i'm running High Sierra on a MBP 15" Late 2011 with 16GB of ram, and i noticed that with 1 tab open in google chrome it uses (according to istat menu's) 5.00gb of ram..

that seems very high.. has anyone else experienced this?

what does the monitor app tell you?

is istat telling you total ram used?

e.g. mine says 4.8GB used but only 2.1GB app memory.
It's only app memory need look at not total used as it is misleading.

now with 5 tabs open, whatsapp and activity monitor it's 4.12gb app memory...

do note i have dropbox, google drive and some other stuff running in the background.
