Up to now I've had to rely on adding a line in a com.apple.boot.plist file in order to make my SuperDrive work on an external USB hub rather than connect it to my MacBook directly. Apparently High Sierra finally broke this hack. Has anyone else had similar issues? Hoping to use this thread as a placeholder for others experiencing the same issue in order to confirm High Sierra indeed blocked this hack.
The hack involved adding the line mbasd=1 to the boot.plist file as discussed here:

P.S. This hack was primarily used to get the SuperDrive to function on Mac devices that had come come with pre-built DVD drives.
