Has been doing it since I installed it when it came out - fine before. My external speakers make no difference (does it when nothing connected to laptop) and today I tried re installing High Sierra and its still doing it.
Anyone else?
Not sure how to resolve the issue

Yea same problem, only works like it's supposed to when plugged in. On battery it just shuts down every time it sleeps and when you open the lid it requires a password so can't log in with Touch ID or Apple Watch. MacBook Pro 15" mid 2017 here

mine does it plugged in as well

I have the same issue occurring as well. It still seems to exist in the 10.13.3 public beta 5 release. I have an iMac 27" Late 2012. This first started happening to me with the 10.13.2 update.

Same here on my 2014 rMBP. I stopped letting it sleep. Haven't tried to see if it was fixed in yesterday's beta release.

Yeah, also have the 10.13.3 beta 5 and the problem still persists. Also started with the 10.13.2. 10.13.1 was working fine, shame I don't have a backup  Hope they get it fixed for final release, a 3k laptop shouldn't work like this

I am having the same problem and my AppleCare advisor told me that I should expect this if I don't restart my MacBook pro. That is, I can't just put my MBP to sleep. When I said that this is not acceptable and I should be able to put my MBP to sleep without needing to restart it, he told me that there was nothing he could do.

I will say that even though it has restarted after installing 10.13.3 beta 5, it seems to be occurring less frequently than with the previous betas. Hopefully it's a sign that they are nearing a full resolution. Not sure if others are experiencing it less frequently as well, but that's what I've noticed having the update installed a couple days now.

Same here on my MBP Retina 15" mid 2015 on macOS 10.13.2 and it happens often. After closing the lid it frequently freezes and I have to push the power button or CmdCtrlPwr to force a restart. BTW: on the system settings power nap is turned on.
Most of the time I use it with plugged in power cable. I have this problem since the first version of macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

I have installed 10.13.3 beta 6 and have not had it error on wake from sleep yet. Fingers crossed that the issue was resolved in this beta!

Ah, yes, thought it was possibly something wrong with my machine. I fequently open the lid to discover it has restarted during sleep. Just done a PRAM and SMC reset to see if that helps things.

Looks as though the final version of 10.13.3 has just been released. Does this bug still exist for anyone in this final build? I'll be installing it later tonight and hopefully it is resolved in this build.

is not the OS. Is your machine not compatible with the OS. Even 10 times fresh install will never end this. if past OS not happen, you will just better revert. waiting for a new update is not the cure. my machine update HS never have any sleep wake problem.

10.13.4 beta 0, still does this on battery. On the bonus side reboot time has been significantly improved, used to take around 30secs to load and now it's just a couple seconds to get everything back up.

Good news! The problem went away after updating to 10.13.3. So the AppleCare senior advisor was just plain wrong.
