Couple of questions

Any idea why it asked me for a new sign in password on install?

Also, because of the change of file system to APFS. The USB stick that I could copy AVI and MKV files to watch on a television, does that now change as it’s not Mac OS journaled now, Will I still have that ability or will the tv not recognise the format of the USB when made on APFS?
