So I have to say that after one week spent running HS that I am personally wondering what these Apple engineers are doing. In my humble opinion it just isn't there yet. Thank God that I am on a 2017 iMac that can still run Sierra, or else I would be stuck in the same boat with the rest of the folks out there buying new Mac computers that have no choice but to run HS. I was really hoping to buy the new iMac Pro, but I am going to wait on a better HS. It's pretty pathetic when an OS is the deciding factor in me buying what appears to be an otherwise wonderful machine.

And yet, you do not mention one issue you are having?

I'm running HS on a 2011 Macbook Air and a 2013 Macbook Pro and I haven't had any issues

Care to elaborate?

The reason I did not start listing issues, is because to be honest there are too many nit picky things to list. Overall the entire user experience is a drag basically. Icons not populating in the applications folder, spinning wheels, bouncing icons in the dock when trying to launch apps that have to be force quit and relaunched, overall system weirdness, GUI glitches system wide, insanely slow boot times while having external hard drives connected, and I could go on and on.

Oh, and congrats that you haven't had "any issues". I don't know how much of a power user you are, but I am a music producer that spends all day long running pro apps like Pro Tools, Logic, Reason, and Ableton Live. Not to mention, endless amounts of audio plug-ins. If someone were just browsing the internet with Safari, no I don't suspect you really would see any issues. ;)

also a music producer (and some video editing); am running HS on 2 macs;on my 'pro', mostly logic X, and lots of plugins. and FCPX, and basically, things are going very well. logic is very happy. am not experiencing the issues you've listed, so... not a global problem, and might be worth investigating.

But its ok, your test upgrade showed these problems (that any true power user who has an income resting on IT would do), then you explored what incompatible software might be causing it (you could always have updated any apps beforehand or abided by the app developer's advise on HS compatibility. Then you ran Etrecheck and posted the results and in the meantime calmly rolled back while you investigated and fixed the problems...or didn't you do any of that?

Arm-waving working better for you?

Do a quick test by creating a new User and see if you can do some basics like browsing, opening apps.

CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar.
Log into the new User.
You can skip logging in with an Apple ID. Hit continue then skip.

Only Apple apps will be in the Dock.
Go to Applications to open other apps that you want to test.

Do you still see the issue?
If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.

YOu are right about it not being ready.....I have all kinds of this app or that app suddenly quit etc....Disc Utilities not able to find the HS disc etc.........I wish I could go back about three OS's ago....but that is not possible without a super hassel etc...

I graduated to Chrome from being a Safari user, but I hope to be a badass like you someday

Hmm, I'm sorry to hear that too, StudioSanctum.

I'm also pretty heavily into pro apps (Xcode, Logic Pro X, Final Cut Pro X, Blender, Motion, Musescore, etc.) and it's been great for me since the first day – but I might not be depending on the wide range of third-party stuff you are, which still seems like something of a landscape for hard-to-trace problems even these years.

brilliant.
Yeah, brilliant... Too bad you apparently missed the part about me wanting to buy the new iMac Pro...... And knowing that it will ONLY run HS, I decided to give the latest iteration another go. Fail.
