Looking for high speed scanner recommendations.

1. Should be Mac compatible.
2. At least 18 ppm when scanning, preferably faster.
3. 600 dpi minimum res when scanning at fastest speed.
4. Most importantly, has a reliable feeding and scanning mechanism.

I want to drop in a bunch of paper, have the machine scan all of it reliably, and then have scanner and Mac communicate reliably.

Any recommendations?

(Also, can I just go out and buy any high speed scanner I want? Or does one have to buy a Mac-compatible scanner? I just don't know anything about the plug-and-playability of high-speed scanners.)

So no suggestions? Was considering the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M, seemed to get good reviews, but was wondering if there's anything else out there that I should consider.

I need to purchase a high-speed scanner for my Mac Pro running OS X 10.7.1 Lion. A Google search brought me here and I just looked at the website for fScanX recommended by sribe.

I have a question. For example, the specs of Fujitsu fi-6130 don't include a Mac OS in the list of supported OS's. But, am I correct to interpret that the fScanX software will enable me to use the fi-6130 with OS X 10.7.1?
