Hi,

I have a 13" MBP that is about 3 months old. Lately I've noticed a loud popping noise when I adjust the tilt angle on my screen. The noise comes from the right side of the screen and is very loud. This happens when the screen angle has been stationary for a few minutes. I went to the Apple Store today and the genius told me it was normal. Does anyone else experience a similar issue or know anything I could to help the problem?

Thanks

Mine does the same thing... it's not a big deal.

It IS SO a big deal. That's how these broken hinge threads get started. People keep allowing it to fester until it's broken, then Apple will refuse to fix it and tell the owner it was from misuse.

The OP should take it to another Apple store and let them at least note it if they don't see fit to repair it right away, this way if it gets worse they will fix it without blame towards to the OP. For the record, my 13" MBP bought in June has no issues with the hinge.

Mine does it too but I figured that it was from the fact I dropped it on that corner and it's quite smashed :)

Those hindges start to creak and crack is usually cause by a lack of lubrication that doesn't mean you should go spraying in some WD40, what it really needs is more grease! Better yet, the silicon based stuff that Apple uses.

Mine doesn't crack when I open it, but I did notice the other day that it feels a little loose.
