I went to download the Hulu Plus app onto my iPod touch 1st-generation (running 3.1.3) and got the following incompatibility message. I noticed the same thing on the app's full page in iTunes as well. Is this a hint that iOS 3.2 might be released soon for the few of us still using 1st-Gen iPod touches and iPhones?

OS 3.2 is for iPad only. Apple doesn't currently have plans to bring it to the Original iPhone or iPod Touch 1st gen models.

So yes it saying 3.2 and higher is true as the next version higher is iOS 4. But those models will not see either iOS 3.2 or iOS 4

Oh wow, thats a surprise!

I don't really know if apple would release a 3.2 for older gen. models
I think their plan is kind of to drop support for them

Did you receive your HuluPlus invite yet or were you just hoping that you didn't need one?

But notice it says iPhone OS 3.2, not iPad. It would make sense for them to release one final update, not to add new features but bug fixes and security fixes (as I recalled reading an article saying that iOS 4 fixed a ton of security holes from iOS 3). It would be nice to see them at least patch up those holes.

And if it never comes it won't bother me that much, I'm waiting out for the 4th-gen iPod touch in September (for the gyroscope if nothing else) or for the Verizon iPhone if some actual concrete proof shows up before then.

I haven't tried to get one yet, first thing I did with HuluPlus was install the app. I don't really think I'll bother paying $10/month to only get the full current season from what I believe is only 3 networks. I already have Netflix (and am paying less for that for more content) which means practically every past season can be delivered by DVD or streamed instantly. I'm pretty good about not missing TV shows and if I do the episodes are online the next day and I'll watch them then, so I don't really need access to the full current season. If it were priced for $5/year I might consider it, but not $120/year.

there is not an ipad specific hulu app so they might do this in the future, i dont see why they couldnt just say 4.0 in that case, but chances are if there isnt one right now there prolly wont be, 3.1.3 and 3.2 was kind of transition before all idevices run the same ios

If they called it 4.0 it might confuse some people for the full version of 4.0. Apple usually reserves full OS increments to updates with many new features, and if all that would be changed is a few small bugs then they probably wouldn't call it iOS 4.
