If it's not released around September, I would declare Mac Pro to be dead. There is nothing for Apple to wait for. Sandy Bridge is a year away (Xeons) and new GPUs aren't coming before 2011. Apple can't just skip one more or less significant generation

Back in March and May the worst case scenario was September. Now it's just couple of months away. At this point what's a couple of months after waiting this long? See you in September :D

september... would be very disapointing. getting overpriced hardware 4-5 months after the release is just... -.-

They did do this with the Mac Mini a few years back when they skipped the 2008 update. I don't think they will for the Mac pro, but apple does stuff like that now and again.

There is no substance to a September rumour, other than it is a date in the future. The only reason September began being mentioned is because hardmac completely misunderstood something and reported it as the new Mac Pros begin delayed to September.

They've been so slow getting updates for these models out. I think Hex is fairly certain but Sept is too long of an update cycle.

I know but the people who buy Mini don't need that much performance, in fact, most buyers would still be fine with that 2007 model. Mac Pro is meant for people who really need the performance and currently Apple isn't offering the best performance they could, 27" iMac is actually about as fast as quad Mac Pro which is ridiculous when thinking that iMac comes with 1000$ 27" monitor. Of course Apple could skip Westmere but I don't get it why would they as Sandy Bridge is so far away.

Now with the new GPUs rumor, I guess we are very close to the update.

Holy Cow! that's pretty rock solid! I'm going to plan all my finances and business decisions on this.

Then I'll post a thread about how Apple screwed me over when October rolls around and there's no MP.

I'll wait for september when they announce that it's all virtual cloud and grid computing www.gridcafe.org and that all we need is a broadband connection a password to server services, keyboard, mouse and a screen.

Oh and the $4,000 fee for the password and then the annual renewal fee.

What is "the new GPUs rumor"?

You joke, but people believed the Mac Pro was delayed because of that hardmac article.

best evidence

The best evidence yet that Apple is going to update the Mac Pro is the hidden code revealing the new graphics cards. Furthermore, I can't believe that Apple won't refresh the Mac Pro with the hex chips.

thought I'd post something resembling a rumor

its a bit cryptic....think he's trying to say Sept Mac Pro Hex?

"Living in the silly con valley as I do, I know a lot of Apple employees. Regarding the hex core, the song that everyone is "not" singing ("I'm not telling you this!") is See you in September... "

Just seems like more speculation. Apple likes to keep things secret, why would they tell some random guy about them updating a certain computer in September?

Are those the same people that believe the iPad had some actual magic in it?

No they are people who took a news site as saying delay until September as fact without reading or understanding the details, or assumed as multiple people were citing it that it was credible.
