I know the 2M cable from Apple is $30, but there has to be a cheaper alternative that works just fine with the clips.

Not to keen on possibly having reduced quality/current, it'd be better to just have one continuous cable for form and function

I hope that works, there is NO play at all in the clip. The lightning end would have to be the same size as the Apple cable.
