I'm looking to replace my Hard Drive in my 2.4 Unibody Macbook and stumbled across this Hitachi drive on Newegg. I've read great reviews for the Travelstar 7k500 in Macbooks and other Hitachi drives, however the 7K500 isn't available on Newegg anymore. :(

The only one I could find is the Hitachi Travelstar H2IK5001672SP (0S02858).....only one problem. I can't find it on Hitachi's website ANYWHERE. :confused:

Any information on this Hard Drive?

That's not a Hitachi Travelstar Model Number:
How to read the Travelstar model number
HTS725050A9A364 = 500GB, SATA 3Gb/s
H = Hitachi
T = Travelstar
S = Standard (vs E for Enhanced Availability)
72 = 7200 RPM
50 = Full capacity—500GB
50 = Capacity this model, 50 = 500GB
(32 = 320GB, 25 = 250GB,
16 = 160GB,12 = 120GB)
A = Generation code
9 = 9.5mm z-height
A3 = Interface, SATA 3Gb/s (SA = 1.5Gb/s)
6 = 16MB cache
4 = No encryption (0 = No BDE hardware,
1 = Bulk Data Encryption,
5 = TCG Opal Encryption)

Did you end up installing that 500GB HD in your MBP? If so, could you report your experience? Does it heat up too much or cause significant battery draining compared to the previous HD you had installed? I'm considering installing the same drive. Thank you!
