Holding down Option during bootup does nothing

I've got XP installed using Bootcamp, but holding down the option key during bootup doesn't do anything. It just boots up into the default OS. Every time I want to switch between OSX and Windows I have to change the default OS from the system preferences or control panel.

Has anybody else had this problem?

Are you sure you're holding down soon enough? Try holding down from before you press the power button to start-up

I've been doing that, and I did also try pretting it at various other stages during boot up. And yes, I'm using the right button

What sort of keyboard are you using?

Make sure it's not a Bluetooth Keyboard, as those aren't activated soon enough to trigger Boot Camp.
