last year i bought an ipad in early november, then when black friday came i was able to get a refund of the price difference since i was in the return window. i would like to do this again this year for my wife to save some money, but i want to buy the product as soon as possible while still within the holiday policy so i can get that discount again.

when does the holiday policy start?

Last year the policy was if you bought it on or after October 31 you could return it up until January 15. I reached out to Apple today and they couldn't tell me any information about it.

Sub'd

I'd like to know as we'll.. Just picked up an iPad air last night.
When I chatted with the rep at the apple store he mentioned - you're in the holiday return preorder, you have until January to return your iPad.

I asked for the exact day and he couldn't tell me. I'd like to see it somewhere in writing.

I bought an ipad at target yesterday. Receipt says return by 01/25/14. I'm not sure abut . They originally told me 30 days when I bought it.

Receipt rules all. You can argue that pretty easily. Only question is about the item being open, but I think they would be pretty cool about it if it's in good shape and not damaged.

You can always argue its defective as well.

When I picked up my iPad Air on Friday at the Apple Store in Natick, MA, I purchased 2 smart covers because I couldn't decide on which color I wanted. The Apple sales rep said, "No problem, the Holiday Return Policy is in effect and that I have until January to return one if I'd like."

So I guess the policy is in effect.

What does your receipt say?

I just looked at my online invoice (purchased from my apple store) and it says my iPad can be returned through Jan 2014.

Just looked at my receipt and return date is Nov 15th. Bought at local Apple store.

Yup mine says January so their holiday return period must be now.

Can anyone else confirm the return date?

I bought it in store and the date on the receipt says Nov 15.

I a also bought a case in the store after I picked up the iPad and it says Nov 15 for that return date. So maybe their online holiday starts earlier? I'm sure they'll have an official announcement or posting soon.

I just got home from buying my iPad Air at the apple store. The specialist was very clear to me that I would have until January 7th to return either the iPad or the Smart Case I bought, due to the holiday return policy.

Got my iPad at a local Apple store today and the return date says November 16th. So maybe it all depends on where you buy it.

It doesn't show up on the receipt. You go online, enter your Apple ID, find your order, then hit "return". The items will be listed with a check mark in the box to the left of each item. Click continue (for the return), another window shows up. That is where you should see the extended return date. Just click cancel if you're not ready to officially start your return.

Edited to add: this is how it works for those who ordered online with store pick-up. Not sure if it will also work for those who purchased direct in the store.

By mistake I hit continue and initiated a return and it generated a return label saying items must received by 11/16! Does anyone have experience with this? I did want to return but prefer to do so in store and also wanted to keep it longer since before I hit continue it showed eligibility for return until January. Please help!

Do you mind taking a screen shot of this?

I've just been in a live chat with apple customer services. They are still quoting 14-day return policy. I then asked about the holiday returns extended window and she said she had no information on this but to keep an eye on the website.

In previous years I'm sure the website has been updated to reflect this, however the website is still saying 14 days

I'm not sure I want to buy until I see it in writing... !

I went into an Apple store today and the employee I spoke with said if I bought an iPad Air today I would have up to 14 days after Christmas to return it. I can't verify if this is for everything in the store or if it's even accurate..I'm just letting you know what the Apple employee told me.

I ordered my iPad on Saturday morning on Apple's website and chose in-store pickup instead of delivery. I picked it up that afternoon.

If I try to initiate a return on Apple's website, it tells me I have until January 7, 2014.
