What I find interesting about this article is:

Sony's plans--and similar moves by other studios--are likely to avoid empowering any one technology company--such as Apple in the music equation--and allow studios to pocket more of the profits. The philosophy in Hollywood is "Define your own agenda or someone else will for you."

Most probably you will get online stores that are more interested in earning your money than to provide a service.

Bleah.

Predictable, though. Hollywood don't want anybody making money off their films besides themselves. Theater owners have known that for a long time.

But they're the only game in town. If they don't want to license their movies to Apple, they won't. (Although Apple does have the option of filing an anti-trust suit.)

Nevertheless, I'm sure the studios will botch it up. Whatever they come up with, it sure as hell won't be as elegant as iTMS.
