OC Baby!
I just recently had my HD replaced, because it just stopped working.

I've been working on my MBP for a few hours and boy is it hot. I thought the Penryn chip fixed this issue???

Is 44 c for the harddrive and 75 c for the cpu diode normal?

I think you mean GPU diode instead of cpu. And well, its normal for the GPU to go that high. Mine goes to 80 when I'm doing something really intensive stuff like games. But other than that, it pretty much stays at 65-70C.

The hard drive though, is a differnt story, because mine never went as high as 40 even. pretty much all the time, it stays at 32-38ish. Even when I downloaded a 1.3 Gig file, it was around 39 so I don't know about your hard drive.

Moreover, the penryn chip did not "fix" this issue, rather, it cooled it by a little bit.

Is the fan spinning up yet? I know my spins up to around 3k-4k when it's at 75C. As wit the HDD, if you've been using, then yes it can get hot; right now mine is at 41C

burns me while I do minimal tasks like surfing. I am strongly considering selling it and getting a iMac + Air combo.
