Hey guys,

I have realised that the home buttom doesnt seem to have the oleophobic coating that the screen have.

I've noticed that the buttom is getting quite stained from my finger oil ayound in fact i cant remove it nor with alcohol or damped water.

Do you guys have the same problem? it's getting just like my macbook air keyboard stain.

I do wash my hands when possible, but yet i still have quite oily fingers

Are you sure it's oil from your skin? Do you handle chemicals of any kind or in a chemical environment? Smoker? I don't think I've seen this discussed here before.

No, it became quite stained from normal everyday use for university.

Macbook keyboards don't stain. They are polished by the friction of your fingertips. Even if you had zero oil on your finger tips, they would still become shiny. The home button isn't made of glass like the rest of the screen. It is made of a black plastic disc.

I've noticed this as well and having the white one makes it especially easy to see dirt and other crud that gets on/around it. This is why I keep going back to the otterbox defender with the covered home button, slightly OCD here.

It's not really "stained", just greasy from the finger oils. I just cleaned mine with an alcohol swab and it seems to be fine.

I have the greasiest hands/skin on earth and my white iPhone has no stains. I've never had stains on my black iPhones either.

My mouse is another story. It's amazing how yucky my magic mouse can get. I have to use rubbing alcohol on it regularly.

Try a bit of windex (normal kind with ammonia). It's worked great on mine.

I've gotten soy sauce onto my white iPhone's homebutton several times and had no issues cleaning it

You don't perhaps happen to be an oil driller do you? ;)

Simply wear and tear !

I swear some should just buy the phone and leave it in the box and perhaps take it out in a protected atmosphere and non damp days to marvel at it !

I used to think about trying to get a part time job at the Apple Store. After reading these forums, I know the job wouldn't be for me. I would want to punch too many customers in the face.
