I've had a 6 Plus for about a month, and I can't get used to the home button on it.

It works fine, TouchID is great, Reachability works great. Clicking works fine.

I'm not sure if am looking for faults though, but when I use Reachability, the button sounds a little loose. The button itself doesn't appear to be loose, there is the tiniest amount of play in it, but nothing that would cause any concern. It just sounds, I dunno, hollow. And when I tap it, granted it's only in quiet rooms it's noticeable, at least to me, it makes like this slight hollow rattle. It's kinda hard to explain.

I have an iPad 3, and yes, it's not TouchID, but the button feels way more solid than my 6 Plus' does, my 6 Plus button feels cheap.

I have compared it against friends 6 Plus', those have issues too. Some have real loud harsh clicks, some have buttons which you can move around, and my brothers has a gritty click like something it's full of dirt. I can't check if using Reachability does the same thing on their phones because obviously I'm out in the pub or whatever with them so can't hear. Their clicks seem way more harsh that mine does, though.

It just bugs me a little because it doesn't feel right.

Has anybody else noticed this, or have a fix for it? It works so am not wanting to replace the phone, but this issue just bugs me.

EDIT: Apparently I made a thread like this already, whoops. Ah well, I'll still take other replies. Cheers.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing with mine. Feels looser and somewhat "stickier" (if that makes sense) than my 5s and iPad Air 2. It feels almost like there's something sticky inside the button, but I know for a fact that it's clean as a whistle. Makes a loud clicking sound sometimes, too, whereas the other two devices are more of a dull click when pressed. Also, I've noticed I can press lightly on my 6 Plus' home button it will make a clicking sound before I even put enough pressure on it to do an actual press of the button. Feels loose.

It works fine for me, though, so oh well.

My 6 Plus also has this same issue!

I had my phone in to the Apple store to have the camera replaced last week (wouldn't focus...) and they checked the home button and said it was functioning properly.

cant remember the last time i clicked my home button, im jailbroken and use a tweak called virtualhome that simulates the homebuttom just by tapping it

I had this same thing happen to my iPhone 6 but I think it's because my son likes to play with the phone and jams in the home button. My home button had a slight "play" to it when I would press it lightly, but not click it down. It was driving me crazy so I opened up the phone.

If you open up the phone, there is a bracket on the back of the home button (below is a pic of it from ifixit's website). The tactile part is actually attached to the home button and the bracket is what the home button presses against so if it's bent downwards, that's what is most likely causing the "play". I took off the bracket and slightly bent it back up and the button is a lot better but not perfect.

I may try to go to the Apple store and ask for a new bracket so replace the current one since I can't seem to get it perfectly straight.

This thread describes to a T what I have experienced on my iPhone 6 and my first few iPhone 5s's.

My button sounds a little jiggly and also hollow. ...and mine also has a very slight gritty sound (as if dirt was around it) like your friend's. Clicking down is fine, but as I'm releasing the button it makes that crunchy noise. Button works okay and Touch ID is working.

My Touch ID hasn't been the greatest on iPhone 6. However, judging by some threads on these message boards, it has been annoying for others as well.

I really wish they'd get the Touch ID home buttons right. Most used button and the phones I've had it feels sloppily put together and loose.

Anyhow, Thanks for posting.

Hello! I've had the very same problem. It was driving me crazy, especially because the people from Apple told me that was some sort of "cosmetic issue" and wouldn't do anything to fix it (as long as the button was working properly). I have fixed the clicking noise with kinda unusual solution: I saw a video of some dude (with the same issue, but on a 5s) using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and applying on the button by pressing it around the edges (so the alcohol could get in) and the noise stopped. He thought that the problem was dirt (and maybe it was). Well, it couldn't be dirt 'cause my phone was brand new but he gave me the idea to do the same thing but with a different product: WD-40 lubricant. It worked just fine! Not only the annoying clicking noise stopped, but the button also feels more steady. I don't know if the solution is permanent but it has been 10 days now and it feels the same as the day I did it. I am very disappointed at Apple, though...
