iPad mini Home button is finicky

Sometimes the home button on my rMini isn't responsive when I give it a quick tap. When this happens, I have to press it down all the way, almost as if I was long-pressing. It's not consistent, and the same thing happens with my iPod 4th Gen. I've just learned to live with it, especially since I usually use the 4-finger pinch gesture to get back to the home screen anyway. Just to clarify, this is a different issue than what I've read here before about the home button occasionally sticking.

Has anyone else dealt with this?

It happened to my rMini. Exchanged it and the new one works fine.

I'd definitely exchange it if you still can.

Happened to my iPad 4... It was replaced free of charge at apple .

Take it in if you can...
