Are there any home cost estimating applications avaiable for free download? I'm in the beginning stages of planning my home construction and was wondering if there is an app I could use in putting together my costs. Any thoughts?

Most are PC based, and will require a good chunk of technical info (if they are worth their weight), ie 14 or 12 gauge wiring, 2x4 or 2x6 framing etc etc
there are some excellent rules of thumb for this:
Depending on the consturction of the home and location,
A standard rancher could run from $80 - $100/sq ft
Some higher end neighborhoods (gated, new development) can run up to $200 a foot.
You can do alot by researching on your own, and doing the calculations by hand. How many yards concrete, then call a concrete supplier...
