So my iPad lost it’s home randomly. Home app on my phone still shows up fine (as well as the other devices in my house).

When I launch the home app on my iPad, it tries to create a new home. When I create the home on the iPad, I can then look at my phone and see that newly create home in addition to my original, working home.

So basically, on my phone (which is still working fine) when I press the Home icon I see 2 homes in the menu. On my iPad, I only see the home that it made me set up when it lost connection to my existing home. It seemed weird to me because if the iPad wasn’t able to connect to iCloud correctly, then you’d think the new home it created wouldn’t show up on my iPhone (since that seems to suggest it’s still able to read/write Home data in iCloud).

Finally got it back. I had tried a few times to uncheck Home in my iCloud settings, then re-enable it. Usually I disabled, killed the app, then re-enabled and restarted the app. This had no effect.

Then I unchecked Home under my iCloud settings and left it unchecked over night. The next day I enabled Home under iCloud settings and everything was back again. Seems like I just needed to leave it unchecked long enough for the system to purge any cached data or anything so that when I re-enabled it, it started fresh.
