I'm usually pretty tech savvy. But today, I got a used iMac and it worked fine when I got it. However, I decided it would be a good idea to change the short name on my user folder because the "spr33167" wasn't my normal short name on my other macs.
I thought it shouldn't be a problem except to have to go through a few programs and change the file path. However, when I restarted none of my apps are working. Pro Tools wouldn't load, Aperture isn't loading, and even the chrome icon just dances and disappears without even opening a browser before crashing.
I'm changed the computer name, my account name, and went into the "users > login options > network account server > open directory utility" and changed all the old names to my new "willblanton" and now nothing except some core applications are working. Tried the terminal trick, but no luck. Also tried changing all the names back, but no luck there either. Any suggestions???
