Hi, i have a treeblet TB3 enclosure with 1 tb SSD and a Mac mini M1 256 gb.
As suggested in this forum, i moved the home folder on the ssd and the Mac don’t stops; the monitor correctly stops but the Mac remain on ( i can ping it ) and both the mac and the ssd are warm.
In the energy settings i unchecked also the network access.
I think that the mac can’t stops due to the home folder on SSD, because handsoff or any other service have to access the home folder on the ssd and the ssd retain the Mac on...what do you think?
How can i stop the Mac? Maybe hibernate?

My answers:

Put the home folder BACK into its normal position on the internal drive (in the users folder).
If you have large libraries (movies, music, pictures), leave THEM on the external drive.
See if this will let it sleep.

If you don't want to do that, my next (and perhaps better) suggestion:
- Forget about "sleeping" the Mini. The difference in power consumption between "sleeping" and "awake, but idling" is literally next-to-nothing on these.
- Instead, set up the screen saver preference pane to put the DISPLAY to sleep using a "hot corner". Easy.
- Then, in the "energy saver" pref pane, put a check into "prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" (if you have that option).
- Also, UNCHECK "put hard disks to sleep when possible".

Now, before you walk away from the computer, shove the pointer into the hot corner. The screen saver will come in (if you picked one), or the display will just go dark.

Thank you for your reply; as you suggested, just for test, i moved the home folder back to internal SSD ( with TB3 interface is really fast ), i ejected the SSD but the mac don’t stops...
I have no problem to put the home folder on SSD and to forget to stop the mac, but the TB3 enclosure remain warm; this situation can damage the NVM SSD?
