I am facing some serious issues with my internet throughout my home network, for instance if I am playing xbox live in one room and a family member is surfing the net in another room my connection on my xbox drops to a low ping rate, so is there an application that could help me control and evenly distribute the internet throughout my house?

What you want is called Quality of Service (QoS) which allows you to prioritize traffic. You'll likely need to buy a new router to get this feature.

Some high end routers have QOS tools built in. Check to see if yours has any of them.
