When I was a kid my dad always had home remidies for things (like a sore throat ) but I have forgotten them all, so anyone know any?

And please dont ******** around I know some of you will not be mature enough to just awnser the question so if you are not then dont.

I too have a really sore throat right now. Must be something going around. I Gargled with a glass of warm water with salt. That helped the next day, but since then it has returned. I am thinking of trying some sort of cough syrup or something.

Gargle salt water. Google 'sore throat home remedies'.

Don't rely on a computer forum for medical advice.

Honey/lemon juice Take several tablespoons of this mixture several times a day. Let it sit in your throat a little while. This remedy will also help alleviate that irritating throat "tickle."

Seconded.

I get a sore throat if I breathe just a bit of cigarette smoke, so there's always an army of lemons and buckets of honey in our house. I find vitamin C helps too and just drinking plenty of water.

Plus it just feels lovely to eat ice cream and let it sit at the back of your throat for a few seconds. Or anything with crushed ice I suppose. Just soothes the burning feeling, nothing long term like :)

That depends. How hard are you? Can you take rapid fire shots of tequila without chasers? Can you catch a bullet in your teeth? Can you reach inside your own guts in the middle of a warzone, ripe out the shreds of barbed wire and use them to choke your enemies to death, while your friends die all around you?

If you think you've got what it takes, you can gargle with apple cider vinegar. But don't say you weren't warned...

Hot Toddy! Trust me, this always works:

1. 3/4 fill a mug with boiling water
2. Add a teaspoon of honey, squirt of lemon juice and a teaspoon of sugar
3. Shot of whisky or brandy.

Try to drink it while it's still hot, not warm, hot. I also recommend being in bed with a decent book for this to work completely: I've no idea how that works medically but it's always good to lie in bed with a book through autumn. :D

I've tried the water and salt thing... I must have put too much salt in though because I threw up shortly after starting to gargle. Since that one time, I've never done it again :p

So my advice, if go that route, make sure your don't put too much salt in ;)

I tried the salt thing this mourning (about 5 hours ago or right after I saw the second post on the topic) and I JUST tried the apple cider thing (I even put water it in cause I knew it was going to be bad) that was one of the most awful things I have EVER done (even though I can tell it really worked the burning is gone) I think later I may put some honey in some hot tee.

ive had a very slightly sore throat for about a week now, which is weird usually its one or two days then i get a cold...who knows i might get the cold for three months now:eek: anyway, remedy:

guy at works says he garggles hydrogen proxide...nasty yes but claims it works great

hot chicken broth (or veggie broth). if you put your face on top of the bowl and breath in the steam, it will help out a lot. then drink it - lots of salt! and tastes better than salt water ;)

Warm milk, with honey and a pinch of tumeric. An indian friend told me to add the tumeric. It's supposed to have some healing stuff to it. Can't tell you the scientific reasoning for the tumeric, but it really helps in the milk. Just a tiny pinch in a big mug of honey milk.

ask someone to kick you in the nads... i promise your throat will bother you no more. :D

Good Idea but then I will have to start a new topic asking about home remidies on that.... And can you say awkward! (and painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Or someone can just come over and beat the crap out of my computer and then I can buy one of these super fast intel macs!

if that's all it takes then back that sucker up and bust some plastic!
