Hello. Ive come across a little problem and I’m just wondering if its happening to everyone else.
When I’m in safari and click ‘add to home screen’ for twitter, or google news, it sets up the shortcut on my home screen as intended, but when i click on the icon it opens up the app,

bookmarks in safari all point to the website okay, but when you do ‘add to home screen’ it points to the app instead.

i’d rather the shortcut open up the website because you can control the font size a lot better on there.

is there any way of doing this, other than deleting the app?

after some reading ive worked out that what is showing is not the website, or the website’s IOS app, but a ‘progressive web app’ on the website itself. apparently some websites have them and some dont. twiiter and google news are two of the ones that do

so if you click a bookmark in safari you get the website, but if you click an ‘add to home screen’ shortcut then you get their progressive web app.

and it doesnt look like you can disable them either. if anyone has worked out a way you can then i would love to know
