Home screen widgets not loaded on unlock

Is anyone else experiencing widgets on the home screen taking a while to load after unlocking their phone since iOS 16? I use Apollo and the default weather app widgets and they stay blank for a solid 5 seconds or so after unlocking and eventually load in.

Never happened to me in previous OS. Wondering if its a bug or if I’ve done something weird.

I've seen that too, and I think they do it to avoid showing you outdated information.

This happens with lock screen widgets too. Sometimes I'll see "Weather Unavailable"; my theory is the last time it tried to update, it failed, so rather than show old information it just says unavailable. It doesn't keep trying because that would waste battery life. Usually unlocking the phone causes it to update.

Happens to me way too often. Mine often won't load at all until I change my phone from US to UK English (and then back again).
