I have a late 2012 Mac Mini and use it as my iTunes server (iTunes library rests on Seagate 4tb USB 3.0 HD), and play media throughout my home network across mulitple devices. Lately, when I watch a video (handbrake compressed 1080p) on my macbook (late 2011) and my ipad 3rd Generation, I have a lot of choppy playback. The video will play for about 5-8 minutes, then pause for a few minutes, then repeat the aforementioned. I have a brand new Cisco router broadcasting in dual band, and show excellent signal strength on both devices whilst I am playing back. Any thoughts on what is causing this choppy/interrupted playback?

I don't know - I think it would be your router, but I'm not too sure.

What bitrate is your content? If it's really high, that could be the problem.

Not sure. I used the standard ATV3 preset in handbrake when I encode my blurays.
