Home Sync is syncing backwards

We are utilizing Home Sync to back up our user's systems (MacBook Pro running 10.5.6) to a 2003 server and recently there have been a couple of users that have had files seemingly synced backward from the server to their laptops. They reported seeing files appear that had previously been deleted. We have had users on 10.5 for a while and this issue seems to have just appeared and only with a couple of users...

Has anyone encountered this issue and were you able to find a solution to it?
