Okay, I am trying to set up my home theater and I have a really simple question. I don't have a flat panel TV, just an old (but still nice) big screen TV. So the screen is about 2 feet from the wall. My question is, how important is it to have the front speakers lined up with the screen? Can I mount them to the wall and still be okay?

That should be fine. They would have to be about 11 feet further away or closer than the screen before you notice a difference in the sound/picture reaching you.

It is worth noting however that the centre speaker should ideally be placed at the same distance as the left/right speakers. If this isn't a possibility, make sure you set up speaker distances.

In fact, always configure speaker distance with your receiver.

Thanks, that's kind of what I figured, but I wasn't sure. Good point about the center channel mounting though. I'll make sure I get them lined up or compensated in the receiver.
