Home Theatre.. Mini??

I am very curious by what people mean when they use there Mac Mini in there home theatre?.... Why and what would you use it for??.... Special software for a home theatre??

I am building a home theatre and i dont use my mac mini much so i am actually considering testing it or even permanently using it for whatever the purpose it would serve...

They use it like a DVD/CD player, frontrow and remote, store files on it (like tv)

I use a Mac Mini in my home theater. Currently have about 25 movies and about 5 television series stored on it. Sounds halfway decent to boot when using an optical audio cable! I can't be bothered with front row and the little remote, so I mostly use a bluetooth mouse and the new little wireless keyboard.

O i see... so how do you use an optical audio cable on the mini if it doesnt have an optical audio jack??
