Soooo....here is what I want to do. Can you help?

I would like to be able to have all of my media on a External Hard drive. Formatted for iTunes already. I would like to grab my iPad, scroll through DVD covers, select the movie I want to watch and BAM...it displays on my TV.

I do have a ASUS N66U dual band router with USB HDD Sharing capabilities. How else would I go about setting this up?

apple tv with your ipad using the remote app?

I Second The Apple TV

You have an Mac so all you need is an Apple TV, set up sharing between it and your Mac and you'll be able to do exactly as inds15 suggested.
