I have several different devices linked into my home with no real problems, and use scenes with no problems. I've tried setting up a couple simple automations and every time I do it causes problems with the devices i the automation. The one I've tried several times is automatically turning on a caseta wireless switch when my chamberlain garage opener opens after a certain time at night.

I've set it up, removed it, and reset it multiple times. Every time, it works for a day or so and then either the lutron switch disappears completely, or the garage door opening stops updating status in homekit. I can still see both working correctly in their individual apps.

Anyone else having problems with automation? I'm hesitant to set up anything I'd actually rely on if I can't count on it to turn a simple light on.

There had been reports of "Phantom" automations that wasn't properly deleted within the system that caused problems. Creating/removing stuff in repetition might have caused this. I had this issue from time to time, but they eventually went away, so I can't really say much more on this. Still you might want to try looking at the list of automations from an advanced 3rd party HomeKit app like Hesperus to see if you have any duplicates.
