We have a family sharing setup in icloud with me running it, one other adult and below that two kids.
Today i received an apple tv so have set that up with me as the default userand also activated homekit which is something I've wanted to start doing. I was a bit annoyed re the photos sharing being limited to one but anyway - thats for another day.

What i am unsure about is this....
-if i change the default user on the apple tv, will i lose control over this device in the Home app (homekit)? or alternatively
-if i were to buy a second apple tv for another room and set it up with another person as the default, would this still be able to be added to the existing home network in the Home app (homekit)?

Hopefully that makes sense.

Andrew

I believe you need to be primary user (Signed into your iCloud account) for HomeKit functionality - but you still can add other users (which I think gives them their own profile) - See:
