I purchased a Hue kit three weeks ago and linked it to HomeKit. Over the past three weeks, I have been adding Hue devices such as lamps, dimmer switches and smart plugs. In addition I also added 1 non Hue power switch (that is HomeKit enabled).

When I woke up this morning, I noticed my automation that turns on the light at a specific hour, was not executed. I looked into the HomeKit app and every tile related to a Hue device displayed 'Not responding'. The non Hue (HomeKit) power switch did not display this message and I was unable to control it. The Hue Dimmer Switch that I have is configured in HomeKit, upon pressing it to turn the lights on, it did not respond. Only after about 10 seconds after pressing a button, did it launch the action attached to it. All tiles in the HomeKit app related to Hue devices still said 'Not responding' after that.

All three leds on my Hue bridge were blue (which is normal). Powering off the Hue bridge and turning it back on again, did solve the issue.

Any ideas on what is going here?

What bothered me most, is that the Hue Dimmer Switch did not respond properly either, logical, because I had it configured in the HomeKit app.

Can I remove the Dimmer Switch from HomeKit and set it up in the Hue app? This should, I THINK, make sure that, next time when HomeKit is having trouble communicating with the Hue bridge, the Dimmer Switch will at least work fine.

I did upgrade my iPads and iPhones to iOS 13.1 two days ago. The only thing I did not yet upgrade was my Apple TV which acts as a home hub. Everything has been working find since the upgrade though, up until this morning.

Yes!!! Set up the dimmer switch in the Hue app. Had this same problem a few months ago and it was driving me bonkers. If I set up the dimmer switches in HomeKit, it would corrupt the whole system. As soon as I set them up in Hue, it worked fine.
I have 68 various bulbs throughout my house and 21 dimmer switches working on 3 separate Hie bridges

Bad part is, is that I prefer the dimmer switch setup in the HomeKit app. You can have one dimmer control one group of lights in each room. In Hue app, the dimmer controls a whole room. The workaround is to name each group of lights a separate room. Not so intuitive if I want to turn on my nightstand lamp and not the whole room. Plus I’m HomeKit , each button can be assigned a specific dim level (or color would r whatever you want). In Hue, the top button cycles through diff dimness levels/colors and the middle two strictly control dimness and bottom strictly turns off.

@Itinj24 thanks, had a look and try but it really didn't work the way I wanted it to work. Will fiddle with it some more.

How many Hue accessories do you have running on that Hue Bridge? The max I believe is 50 but I’ve had them vomit at way less than that (38). I also believe there is a max number of scenes you can add (100 I think?) and each button on the dimmer switch is considered a scene. That could also cause this behavior if you overloaded the Hue Bridge. I have to run three of them.

Hey, maybe your bridge was updating? I disabled automatic updates in the Hue app.
Sometimes (rarely) our hue lights are not accessible... but when I quit and re-open the Home app the devices come back online.

I would definitely configure the dimmers switches in the Hue app. Homekit is a bit flakey... The Hue bridge is more reliable.

15 devices or so and 10 scenes

Look into that but I want to control lights over different rooms with the dimmer switch and this is not possible with the Hue app since it’s per room
