okay so currently I live with my parents and I have my HomePod and LIFX light strips and it’s setup as my own individual home. My parents just have a HomePod and their own home on HomeKit. But they built a new house and everything is going to be homekit comparable. What’s the best way to set up the new house with me being able to control things. And we have our own apple IDs.

you can share homes

I think I've heard on here that your HomePod can't control homes that are shared with you though.
I don't have a way to test this, and it might have also been fixed since I read that.

It might just be Siri needs a language change.
Similar to the way that "Turn off the lights" to HomePod only turns off the lights in it's assigned room, But if you say it to a phone, it turns off the entire house. You have to tell HomePod "Turn off all the lights" to make it do the entire house.
