I think I know the answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Once your Homekit Secure Video is stored at Apple, is there a way to automate downloading of the clips to your own storage? I know you can download clips to your phone (stored in Photos?), but it doesn't look like it can be made automatic. I feel like the 10 day life span of uploaded clips is way too short.

I don't think so.

Curious, what is your use case for needing every clip longer than 10 days? I think most people will become aware of an issue and can manually preserve footage well under that time frame. I guess if you travel for a significant time frequently maybe?

It's just what I do. I currently have SecuritySpy recording all my cameras to a hard drive continuously. My preference to to keep clips as long as I can in case something is recorded that becomes useful later. Like if the police need to identify a car that was in the area or someone walking by my house who later is involved in a crime etc.

I get it. I just think it likely that most events of consequence (for most people) would be known within the time frame to allow preservation.

People gone frequently out for longer time periods are one exception I could think of.
