Our HP in the Great Room (GR) sometimes responds does not respond to personal requests – other times it does nothing – offering no feedback. I went thru all the steps recommended by Apple, including: making sure it was on the same network – even the same SSID, turned personal requests on/off, reset the GR HP, checked to ensure I was sharing my location from my iPhone – nothing helped – same issue.

Some background: we have four HP’s and three ATV’s. Each of them is in HK – each is assigned to the actual room they are located in. I have not assigned any of them a custom name.

Looking at a list of devices from my router it shows multiple items for each device – including a ‘Host’ name. The GR ATV was GreatRoom and the HP was GreatRoom-2. GreatRoom is the name in HK too. So, HK adopted the name of the room – and appended -2 for the second device. Makes sense since I did not assign a name when I added them to HK. Both HP and ATV are shown as hubs.

I solved my responsiveness issues by ‘moving’ the GR HP to the adjacent (physical) Kitchen Room. Immediately all personal requests were working. It’s been this way for three days now.

In addition, our two Apple Watches began responding again – all the time – to all requests – not just personal – they had been inconsistent.

I assume this is a software issue. What I’m going to do next is set up custom names for the HP’s and ATV’s, so each is unique – and bring the HP in the Kitchen back into the Great Room. Once I know the results, I’ll post my findings here.

Hope this helps someone having this issue.
