i'm making my own ipod dock and i was wondering how i could make my own line out to connect my ipod to my stereo thru the dock connecter
 
From the diagram, looks like you'd be interested in pins 2, 3, and 4.
2 is the ground, 3 is the left audio channel, and 4 is the right audio channel.

Splice your line out cable and attach the wires from the line out to the dock pins where appropriate.

You might have to do some work to figure out which is which on the cable you are using, though.
