The question: Is it normal for HomeKit/Airplay to essentially treat a HomePod and Apple TV as one 'device' when you set the HomePod up as the default Apple TV speaker?

The background: I kicked off the new year by kicking Alexa out of my apartment, and replacing her with HomePod Minis.

We have an Apple TV in our bedroom, so I set up the HomePod in there as its default audio option. It's great when we're watching TV, but whenever I try to AirPlay multi-room audio from Spotify the bedroom HomePod shows up as Bedroom TV instead of the actual HomePod name. Both the TV and HomePod also show as playing in the Home app.

It seems like it's just one of those weird Apple things that doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of multi-room audio, but again am curious if this is normal or if I'm missing a setting somewhere?
