I am beyond frustrated with my new HomePod. It's just me in the house, and it's connected only to one iCloud account. Most things work. If I receive a text, I can ask Siri to read it no problem. Siri will read my voicemails fine. I can add things to my reminders lists. It sees my calendars, etc. BUT anything to do with contacts it can't do. If I ask Siri to send a message to someone, she replies with "I don't see _____ in your contacts." Same goes for making calls. I have reset the HomePod once already which was no help. iPhone and HomePod are on the same WiFi network. Personal requests are turned on with require authentication set to never. Running 13.4.6. Any tips?

I had this problem until I updated my iPhone to 13.5.1. Have you checked for all available updates on your kit? My HomePod is on 13.4.6.

Wow--yes that was the issue. I was on a 13.6 beta on my iPhone. Updated to the 13.6 GM and works perfectly now. It didn't occur to me that iOS would affect HomePod accessing my contacts since they're in iCloud. Thanks!

Your HomePod communicates with your phone for so much stuff. More than I ever thought originally. Glad it worked for you.

This problem has come and gone for me over the course of the last year or two. It's not for all contacts, only certain ones. I have tried all manner of things to fix it with no dice.

It's back for me at the moment on current software.

Anyone else?

same here - I had no trouble when I first set it up after xmas, but in the last week, suddenly my wife is no longer 'in my contacts' - REALLY annoying as I got it expecting to intercom to her while bathing my son, but its so quiet down stairs on the main HomePod she cant hear it, so Ive resorted to sending her messages, to find out now, 'I dont see XXXX in your contacts, who do you want to send it to?"

This seemed to resolve for me when I downloaded the iOS 14.4 Release Candidate beta software. Suddenly HomePod was letting me make text messages and had no problem discovering contacts. Hopefully it will do the same for you when the 14.4 RC releases.
