I'm looking to purchase a HomePod (original, not mini) and I'm wondering if any stores are dropping the price back down to $199 for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Anybody know if this will be happening?

OWC has it for $210 but it doesn’t have the retail packaging. It’s sold as “new” but I’ve seen reviews complaining that HomePods are used/refurbished.

Apple Store offers a $100 free gift card with the purchase of a HomePod

My employer discount has it for $281 but I don’t get the $100 gift card if I buy with my employer discount.

Yes, the Apple promotion effectively drops the HomePod price to $199.

Plus you get 3% if you use Apple Card. That drops the price to $193.

In fact, it looks to me that you could receive an Apple gift card, and then apply it to your Apple Card balance and in that way get the HomePod for $199 (or rather, $193), whereas if you don't have Apple Card then you would need to use the gift card for a separate purchase from Apple.

Anyone know if my interpretation is correct?

Either way, this is very tempting!

I'm hoping the same and just purchased one through Apple.

Whaaa? You can pay your Apple Card with the Apple store credit?

Well, that is what I'm asking, basically (and it's not an Apple store credit, it is an Apple gift card). Since the Apple Card payment will come due later, by that time you'll have these gift cards in hand. It seems that you should be able to use them towards your balance due? I'm not saying I've done that, I'm just thinking it might work that way.

Remember, not everyone has an Apple Card and uses it to purchase these Apple devices.

These purchases that include gift cards work like this - they discount the price of the item purchased (the HomePod is discounted from $299 to $199) and then they charge you $100 for the gift card. Gift cards can be redeemed into your Apple Account balance (see link below).

I know it seems weird, but essentially you can use the gift card to pay for the cost of the gift card, but this would only apply to those who have Apple Card accounts.

Seriously - someone tell me if I am missing something here!
