Hi

I have two HomePods, a HomePod in the dining room and a HomePod mini in the kitchen. Both rooms are close so both hompods can hear me say "hey siri"

My problem is if I play something in the kitchen and then stop that later in the day and decide I want to play something in the dining room only, I go up to the dining room HomePod and say "hey siri" but the "listening" light on top of the HomePod goes out quickly as the kitchen HomePod still is the main speaker listening for commands, so anything I say ends up playing on the mini in the kitchen.

Its really annoying particularly when Im obviously standing next to the HomePod in the dining room, it should have the intelligence to realise I want to play music on that one!

How do I change it so that the dining room HomePod is the main playing source again?

Thanks

Say, "Hey Siri, play in the dining room".

I will have to try that again, but will this work if Im at the dining room HomePod and say that, as said the listening light goes out quick as the kitchen homepod is the one listening for commands.

I thought these hompods are supposed to have a range detection for hey siri, so it knows which one Im asking to play something.

You can say that anywhere in your home. The kitchen HomePod might hear and respond, but that's why you're specifically telling it where you want the music, so you don't care which one takes the command.

Thanks this worked, I said "hey siri play "insert here" in dining room" and the kitchen pod responded but played in dining room.
