Hi!

I’m an Italian user who bought from Germany two Homepods (!)
One of them just arrived and I tried to setup but on my iPhone X and my iPad Pro2 an error message says the Wi-fi is incompatible.
I also tried with my mothers iPhone SE2, connected on the same Wi-Fi connection, and it greatly works...

I‘ve read so many suggestions in previous threads in this forum (disabled Auto join and auto Login, turned off and turned on, tried to setup directly in the Home app) but nothing works :(

These are presents for my new home, I don’t want to give them to my mother 😂

Jokes aside, what would you suggest to do? It’s even hard to contact Apple because I didn’t bought it in my country (Apple doesn’t sell HomePod in Italy, I really don’t know why) but it arrived from Germany.

Thank you!

Have you tired rebooting your router and network gear?
homepods seem especially picky with wifi.

if that doesn't help...
did you buy from a store or a person in Germany?

is it possible they're US HomePods?
There are certain wifi channels that work in the EU that don't work in the US. (list of channels)

for 2.4Ghz, the US doesn't have 12 and 13, only 1 thru 11
for 5, anything under 161 should be OK

I don't know how the models of HomePods differ, if it's a hardware, software, or just a configuration difference to enable the other channels.

if you are on a non-us channel, try changing to one that's valid here.

Thank you for your reply!

The HomePod was bought online and it’s the German version, I am sure of it because inside it has manuals in their language.

The weird thing is that it doesn’t work on my iPhone X and iPad Pro 2 but it works on my mothers iPhone SE 2, using the same Wi-fi connection... So I don’t think the Wi-fi is the problem... It must be something with my devices but I really don’t know what...

This afternoon I am trying to contact German Apple support using a VPN (otherwise, even if I go to the German Apple website, when I ask for support I get the Italian support page, where Homepod is not mentioned).

If you have any other suggestions please tell me! :)

Thank you!
