HomePod HomePod mini 14.4 U1 Range Issue

So I updated to 14.4 on my iPhone 12 and HomePod mini, expecting to enjoy the new handoff feature with U1.

Unfortunately, I have my mini at the back edge of my desk, which is two feet wide, right in the middle. Now every time I pick up my phone, it begins the handoff gesture from 2 feet away. I'm guessing my best option is to move the mini to a corner of my desk, but is there anyway to decrease the "range" of handoff? The non-U1 version was fine as you had to basically touch the HomePod.

I am having the same issues as well. Every time I pick up my phone it attempts to transfer. Super annoying.

not helpful, but another current thread, and a lot of "same here"s

hopefully they'll sort it out in the next version.
