Ok, I’ve played with my new HomePod mini for awhile tonight but having some issues I’m hoping I can get some help with.

1. I tried asking Siri through the HomePod to play a music station first via the Tune-In app and then via the stations own app. Both requests failed. So later, I was listening to my tunes via Bluetooth headphones. As I was turning off those headphones and shut them off, it paused the music. When I unpaused it on my phone, I expected it to play via the iPhone speaker. Instead it was playing through the HomePod mini. I’ve since turned it off and now I can’t get it back on. Any ideas??

2. Any place for good step by step tutorials to see how to connect my HomePod to AppleTV for watching shows with audio through the HomePod instead of through the tv speaker. I’d really like to test this for a few days as I’m considering a soundbar but may pass on that if the HomePod mini is good enough.

you've been using airplay

on the phone, go to control center (or typically anywhere music is controlled from) look for the airplay icon, 3 circles with a triangle at the bottom, and hit that, then you'll be able to select where you want the audio to play from .

from the airplay menu if you go to "control other speakers" and select your homepod from that list, then the music app on the phone will be used as a remote to control playback on the HomePod.
On the surface, it's the same as the first way, but this actually plays on the HomePod instead of playing on your phone and streaming to the hompod. , This can be preferable, since when playing back on the phone, if you go to a webpage with video, that will take over your phone's player causing the music to stop on the HomePod, and the web video to be heard from the HomePod.

On the aTV, hold down the TV button, like you're going to shut it down, if you look at the icons on that screen, you'll see something familiar now that you've done airplay from your phone
Airplay from the aTV can be hit or miss, it works well with most apps, but some have issues, You'll have to see what does and doesn't work based on your particular App Library. Most of the time "doesn't work" means that it has a long pause when starting playback, so it does work, it's just mildly annoying.
Also keep in mind, this only works for the appleTV, if you want to use apps on your TV, or another device like a cable box or game console, then the HomePod will be useless.

Airplay does work for the aTV, but a wired sound bar will be better, no worries about wireless dropout or lag

Can audio from movies or shows on the Apple TV+ APP on an iphone use Handoff to touch on the Homepod Mini to play audio?
