My AppleTV 4k is connected to ethernet. I have added a HomePod mini to same room and it shows. There is no sound from the HomePod mini but when I connect via Wifi it works. Can we not use ethernet and connect appleTV to the HomePod mini while connected via ethernet? My alexa and firetv had same issue. Thanks.

It should. My ATV4K is hardwired. It is linked to 2 full sized HomePods in the same room, and a mini remotely in the kitchen so I can hear TV when I go in there. Works fine.

Wonder why mine does not connect.

hook the aTV back to ethernet, and reboot the aTV, HomePod and router.

if that doesn't help, make sure your wired and wireless devices can "associate". there is sometimes a setting in your router to prevent the 2 sides of your network from talking to each other (it's a safety feature, but not needed in most home environments). If this is set incorrectly you might also have run into problems using airplay or the remote app when trying to use your phone to send audio/control the a wired aTV.

Just re-read the original post, and since your Alexa and fireTV had the same issues, the associate issue might be the problem.
you're on a "normal" home network? not in a dorm or something like that?

Thanks for response. Nope my house. Nest wifi.

I had the same issues with an Amazon Studio and Fire TV Cube losing contact frequently. I even tried using both on Wi-Fi and assigning static IP addresses to them. Nothing solved the issue, so I returned the Studio. I suspect that the suggestion about a router setting interfering might be true.

I would like to have a HomePod mini connected via Wi-Fi to my MacBook Air M1 which is using ethernet, but I don't won't to go through the same issues as I did with the Amazon Studio and Fire TV Cube, so I’m currently using a wired speaker. Let us know if you get it to work.

Well after spending quite a while researching the HomePod mini connection issues on the internet, it is clear that they are NOT a viable option for use as dedicated speakers for a Mac, or any device. It is Airplay or no way with these limited connecting speakers. At least many of my Alexa Echos have both input and output 3.5mm AUX ports, but Apple left those off of the HomePod mini, and since they don't use BT for true connectivity, that leaves only the very limited use Airplay option. Apple can be such a d**k when it comes to their devices and how they can be used and connected. So I won't be buying one of these overpriced speakers since it cannot connect very well with my MacBook Air M1.
