In a van down by the river
I connected a stereo pair of HomePod minis to my Apple TV as the main source. I also connected another stereo pair under the “temporary Audio Output Option”. Ever since I did the latter, there is an speaker connection icon that pops up on the corner of the screen. Anyone else come across this? Is the second stereo pair causing this? See the attached video. Sound appears to be working as it should. I have also found that when I turn off the Apple TV etc. and turn back on, the temporary audio option still shows the newly paired homepod minis.

This is happening to me. And I am so relieved I’m not the only one!

Apple TV 4K 2nd gen
Homepod Mini + Sonos One
tvOS 15.3

Two different TV sets, CEC off

Still looking for a solution.

No matter what I have tried it keeps happening, unless I don't try to connect any other speakers in addition to the stereo pair (ARC).

Glad to see I am not alone. Make sure to file a bug report.

Been seeing this a few times a day as well. The volume control display pops on-screen by itself for a moment then goes back off. I don't think it's specifically a Homepod mini problem - rather something in TvOS or Airplay, or perhaps the new remote. My setup has one original Homepod and (following the death of my other Homepod) a couple of Ikea Symfonisk speakers. My Homepod minis are in my home office and I have never streamed television audio to them. Anyhow...

Update: I have noticed that the pop-up does not happen every time and has occurred in other apps as well (like Netflix etc.). Yesterday, I was able to go most of the day without seeing the pop-up and then out of nowhere, it started happening over and over. Disconnecting the temporary HomePod minis connection temporarily fixed the problem. I have also noticed that many times, the pop-up will randomly quit without having to disconnect the temporary pair.

I filed a bug report. I hope more people report the problem and Apple fixes this annoying problem. I really like having 4 HomePod minis connected to my TV. Having the extra pair makes a big difference.

Sitrep: Issue persist, although the frequency of it is lower. Not taken any further troubleshooting steps aside from making sure I update Airplay speakers and Apple TV every time an update presents itself.

Edit: No actually I did rule out the remote and am now using a replacement remote, didn't change a thing.
