HomePod mini-Control from Mac Keyboard

Just bought a pair of HomePod Minis for my Mac. I'd like to control their volume from my Mac keyboard but that doesn't seem to work. When I try to setup the minis as my system speaker, I thought this would solve the problem, it reverts to my built-in Mac Studio speaker.

Any ideas?
