Hello there

So I had a HomePod for a good few years before I sold it on and I have now bought a HomePod mini

now when I try to use the handoff feature transferring audio from my iPhone 11 to my HomePod - works fine, but when I want to handoff the audio from my HomePod mini back to my iPhone 11, a prompt comes up and I have to press it before the audio comes back, I thought both ways it was automatic?

I know it worked fine with my original HomePod in audio handoffing both ways absolutely fine and both ways automatically buy for some reason this is doing it differently (and with a new UI as well for some reason, but is that the software update? Or is it because of the HomePod mini?)

this is what I am talking about, the screen I get when I want to get the audio back on via handoff

it seems strange I have to press a button to get it back into my iPhone, it should be automatic shouldn’t it?

Am I doing something wrong?

it is automatic, it just requires confirmation.

my guess is people would set their phone down next to the hompod, and audio would automatically jump back to your phone. Which would not be what you wanted if you're just setting the phone down on the desk.

Adding the confirmation step prevents that from happening, but still allows you to pull audio back to the phone

If you truly want to pull audio back to the phone because you're about to leave, then in theory the phone is in your hand, since you're about to walk away with it. so clicking the confirmation shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
