So I know you have 6 users on one HomePod mini, my question is, if I have my HomePod mini set as the Apple TV speaker and it’s on playing something on the TV, how “seamless” would it be for my spouse to “take over” the HomePod and play music or whatever, then how seamless is to switch back to the Apple TV when he is done listening to music?

In my experience of doing what you want to do, I cannot use my speakers to play Apple Music whilst they are set as the default speakers to my Apple TV (and yes the Apple TV is off). If I ask Siri to play something, It just comes up with some message about a problem with Apple Music.

I don't know if this is how it's meant to be but if it is, it is yet another awful implementation, but that is Apple these days.

Have you actually tried it?

Very easy to switch back and forth, but you can’t use the Apple TV if the paired minis are playing music - the music plays “through” the Apple TV to the minis; at least in my experience.
